The property
This new build home in Winchester was awarded the best one-off house by the Sunday Times in the British Home Awards 2014. The homeowners of the Four View residential project were looking for a sliding door system to enhance the views over the South Downs hills.
Why they approached us
The owners of the Four Views were interested in a safe solution with high security and thermal performance levels to reduce energy bills and carbon footprint. They approached the architects from AR Design Studio to help them choose the right aluminium sliding doors and windows for their home.
The solution
For the project, AluK BSC94 (Duo Rail) and BSC94 (Triple Track) Sliding Door System, as well as 58BW ST (Steel Replacement) Window System were specified. These products were used for extensive glazing of walls, roof lights and for the open central garden entrance to allow maximum light into the upper floor, and to enhance the feeling of space and changing the atmosphere of the outside areas dramatically.
The result
The homeowners were overjoyed with the inspiring views over the city and the amazing countryside. The aluminium sliding door systems and windows were a great fit for this stunning house, overlooking the City of Winchester.
Laura Locke, their architect from AR Design Studio said: ‘’We are always looking to create innovative contemporary design with clean, refined materials and detail. We look to create high quality, modern, elegant, and functional design solutions. This is why we used AluK building systems at Four Views and frequently choose AluK products for other projects.’’
At AluK, we aim to help all our customers choose the perfect aluminium door and window systems for their home. We recently helped a customer who was completely refurbishing the property, a beautiful semi-detached house in the heart of Greenwich, London.
Ultimate Grey and Illuminating Yellow have been declared as the Pantone Colours of the Year for 2021. One AluK customer near Whitstable was ahead of the curve with this grey and yellow combination of aluminium windows, door and bifold doors, giving a tired 1930s property a smart update.
